WBI shares all the secrets into how they make a family friendly show including all the tricks and insights into making fun, theatrical and very silly puppet theatre. Emma draws on her 26 years experience and uses some of her classics like 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' and 'Supermarket Scrooge' to demonstrate her methods. Emma will help you plan your own show using her secret structure and there will be lots of playing and looking at types of puppets. Hopefully inspiring you to follow up your ideas and start making some.

Making Immersive Theatre for the Very Young

Using her interactive theatre session 'Play the World' that has been developed over 15 years and performed at Pegasus Theatre, I will show you some insights as to how the session is structured, the type of sensory activities offered and how the session is managed, so everyone can get the most out of it. There are 16 themes to discuss (including The Shoe Farm, Lunchbox Circus and Cat and Mouse) full of techniques, such as using shadow puppetry, playing with household objects and play inspired by early years schemas. This very active session will include Emma assisting you devise your very own session to charm the very young and their grown ups!

Making Sensory Shows

WBI has over 10 Sensory Shows for those who need to access theatre a little differently. This course explores techniques that are perfect for the very young and those with additional needs including suggested Pre and Post show information such as Social Stories, the use of Makaton signing and how to welcome audience members into a space. We will play with a host of activities that will thrill the senses and I will assist you plan your own sensory show.

Make a Puppet and Bring It To Life

Enjoy making a simple puppet and learning how to use it in your everyday life with little ones. Perfect for teachers, librarians, parents or grandparents, artists, performers or people who fancy getting crafty with puppets. Not every show has to be in a theatre, puppets have so much to offer from a night time companion, to literacy tools to helping with crowd control! This is a simple, relaxing craft session you can have real fun with and make a pleasing puppet character of your very own.

Courses are only £45 as they are heavily subsidised by our kind project partners. The North Wall, The Pegasus Theatre, Tiny Ideas Festival, The Mill Banbury, The Story Museum and Dancin Oxford.

Courses run 9.30-3.30pm (or 3pm) and will be on sale on 1st June
